IPL Photofacial
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and heat penetrate deep beneath the skin to trigger a natural wound healing process. The wound healing process
rebuilds new collagen beneath the skin surface, tightening the skin and smoothing it out. IPL is also well suited to treat hyperpigmented areas
(or brown spots) because the light and heat are preferentially absorbed by the darker pigment cells. The light triggers a photothermal process
in the pigment cells that cause them to heat up and coagulate.
At the same time, the heat raises the temperature in the pigment cells, speeding up their destruction. The body's natural processes remove
the destroyed pigment cells, causing them to disappear. For optimal results, multiple treatments are necessary. Initially, a series or treatments
will be required every 4 weeks. Follow up treatments will vary between 8-16 weeks depending on the severity of the sun damage and the number
of previous treatments.
